The ‘Kites’ story

You would have been quite impressed with the sleek trailer of Rakesh Roshan’s ‘Kites’. Picturesque locales, distinct screenplay and of course the hot romance between Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori… But at times one would have wondered about the title and its connection to the storyline. Well, here’s what we found from the sources…

Once when the producer Rakesh Roshan was gazing the sky, two kites caught his eyes. He found it romantic, to watch them flying. “It was very intriguing,” he said, “The way they came close, played, almost embraced each other and then drew apart. Unaware that someone else was pulling the strings and could cut them loose. I sat down and penned a story around this idea.”

On the other hand the director Anurag Basu, who also wrote the screenplay said, “Kites is a metaphor in the film. Kites fly against the wind and not with it, stronger the wind blows, higher they fly.” Similarly the film’s protagonists too face obstacles and their love grows deeper with every increasing obstacle, he added.

Hmmm so now you know the story behind ‘Kites’….

With two versions – Hindi and English, ‘Kites’ is all set to fly over the screens from May 21. The film will be released worldwide by Reliance BIG Pictures in over 60 countries. Besides Hrithik and the Mexican actress Barbara, the much-anticipated flick includes Kangana Ranaut, Kabir Bedi and Nick Brown.
